I introduce Qoya, and then share a theme which is authentic to me, something which resonates with my life at this time. Then I invite everyone to pull an oracle card which helps deepen and give meaning to each person during this class.
I then invite everyone to connect with their breathing to integrate mind, body, and spirit into the present moment and then everyones sets an intention within themselves to help deepen the experience.
Circle through each part of the body to release tension or rigidity, reclaim the water element in the body, and begin to shift the focus from how it looks to how it feels.
Heart Opening is offering our movement as metaphor. Wherever we are in our lives right now, are we willing to open our heart? By connecting to the the rhythm of the music and the rhythm of our own heart, we start the journey along the long pathway, 6 inches from the head to the heart.
Hip Opening through feminine movement, slowing down to feel more. Look to move in ways that feel, good, honest, and true, and you will be more likely to find them.
Dancing Yoga as Prayer, through gentle postures, to offer our movement as prayer and access the gifts of yoga by bringing our awareness of mind, body, spirit, and energetics into alignment.
At times we share our intention with a partner and then explore how to move your intention through your body and also how to experience prayer through the body by wishing for your partner to receive their intention.
Shadow Contrast Dance to explore the opposite of the theme as a gateway to honour our wholeness and the challenges in our lives to dance with them instead of pretending they’re not there.
We express our feelings rather than repress them and embrace the fullness of our human experience by noticing how it feels when we embody the shadow contrast dance.
Shaking each part of the body for each person to experiment if it’s true for them that “through movement, we remember.” Here you intentionally release what no longer serves you and reclaim your vibrant nature and zing through this simple and effective movement, which helps discharge whatever has been triggered in the Shadow dance.
A simple Choreographed Dance is offered to create more mind/body connection and to have fun!
Free Dance is a full, embodied experience of the theme. I encourage you to move any way that feels good to as you embody your wise, wild and free essence.
Community Connection to allow each person to use language to anchor any healing or insights from class on how they will integrate their experience of dancing with the theme and their intention as they move back into the world. Every woman also receives the opportunity to witness and be a witness to another woman as she shares, actively listening and being present.
Final Stretching and Relaxation to integrate all the benefits of class, honour the body’s movements, calm the nervous system, and create an opportunity to soften from doing into being. I may read some poetry or play a song with meaningful lyrics.
